My Brethren, count it all joy
when ye fall into divers temptation. James 1:2
In other words, we are not to
count it strange when storms and trials come our way, because they are to be
expected. No matter how anointed or holy you are, the storms of life will
attempt you, in a bid to discomfit you. To count storms strange when they come
amounts to submitting to defeat. But the Bible doesn't stop there. It also
tells us why these storms come our way.
Knowing this, that the trying of
your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye
may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:3-4
No doubt, storm of life are part
and parcel of our redemptive package. You don't need to commit sin to
experience life's troubles.
Remember Jesus never sinned yet the storms
attempted to destroy Him. The storms of Life have access to anyone. To better
understand what I'm saying here, you need to observe the kind of tests that
steel, used for the construction of bridges, is subjected to. The steel is
passed through a very tough test to ascertain its' strength. You don’t just pick
up any piece of metal and use it to build a bridge that is expected to carry
the weight of several tons of materials and vehicles for many years. It's the
same way with every believer, who must go forward. He must undergo severe
tests, to determine his strength.
